quilts abound!

I'm thrilled to introduce you to my quilt! I started this while Jim was in Iraq and finished it this week, a mere two years later. Or maybe it was three years. I can't remember...

I feel like I should have some funny quip or story to go with my big reveal. This is a blog after all. Um, but I don't. Nothing. Just hours in front of the sewing machine and needle and thread. I still have some top-stitching I'd like to do. But for now we'll call it done.

Here's the other quilt I've been working on. I can take little credit for it, though. The part you're seeing was done by a friend of Mama G's. Tanya from Russia made it with love out of many, many men's ties. But if I showed you the part I did, all you'd see is the navy blue backing and a closeup of a some embroidery thread. Not overly exciting, but I still feel very accomplished in finishing it. I've always wanted to do a quilt this style... now I can take credit for it!

So that's some of my effort from the week. I feel good!

yay! The quilts are beautiful! What made you pick out the small squares for the first quilt, what was your inspiration? What kind of stitching did you use to quilt the layers together? So many detailed questions...sorry. Congrats on your completion of two beautiful keepsakes!

I can't imagine being able to make something so beautiful and useful with my own two hands.

Lucky girl you are to have such talent! Well, perhaps luck has nothing to do with it. You obviously work hard at it and the Lord gives us each our own set of talents.

He has just yet to reveal mine to me!

Love them~ they are really almost too pretty and nice to actually use.

These are beautiful as are all of your quilts. I still smile every time I make my bed and put your quilt at the bottom... the perfect nap time quilt. And my 2 year old loves to sleep with her "Aunt Karen blanket" you quilted her as a baby. As for afghan's... your 4 yr old nephew is a big fan of the yellow one you made him when I was pregnant with him!

So, all that to say... your work is truly priceless and cherished for years to come!

Your quilts are beautiful! WOW! I am so impressed which I shouldn't be since you are so crafty. I too have many unfinished projects. Wished we lived closer to work on them together. I guess you have inspired me and that will have to do for now. THANKS!
MISS YOU!!
