5 down...

...a kazillion more to go, I hope.

This morning Jim and I woke up in San Diego. We are taking a long Memorial Day weekend to celebrate our anniversary.

In 5 years we've:
  • lived together for almost 3 and half of them (thanks, Army!)
  • made it through a full year deployment
  • made it through the after-deployment
  • fought alot
  • laughed more
  • moved 5 times
  • rescued our other family member, Roxy
  • mourned the loss of family members together
  • met new nieces and nephews
  • made a Grublet of our own
And to commemorate such achievements, Jim gave me this:

I've actually had it since Christmas, but it was always intended to be for today, exactly 5 years after the above picture was taken. One of the best days of my life. By far, the best decision I've ever made.

So happy May 22nd, everyone.
(Especially you, too, Cindy!)

It was a day I will always remember. A little rain (Ok, a lot of rain) - then the sun broke through and you and your Dad make special note of how your Lord blessed you. Vows given and taken before our Lord, family and so many friends. Did I ever mention how special your friends are?!
It will always be a fun, and happy memory for me.
Thank you both.

Love Always,
Mom

Happy Anniversary!

That was a great weekend as I recall!

I still remember suggesting if I or someone could take a photo of you bowling at that retreat center lane(s)...White Sulfur Springs...in your wedding gown.

That image is burned in memory...the dark green wet leaves...the lighting...the road...and Stella almost spinning with a defiant yet charming smile, "I don't think so!" HA!

That and Jim's "theme music" & the wagon cart full of wildflowers...holding Daniel for the 1st time up in the W's room, your dad reciting poetry & hanging out in the motel lobby (such a proud dad)...on & on & on....I love the Whaleys!
