false alarm #1

Hopefully tonight won't be false alarm #2. We went in on Tuesday night because I was convinced my water had broken. Nope. I wasn't even dilated. I was a big zero.

And I was so trying not to be "that girl". You know, the one who comes in like five times before she's actually admitted because she's sure this is IT.

Well, I suspect tonight will be the second attempt.

Because I'm typing this in between contractions. Five minutes apart actually. The nurse on the phone said to wait as long as I could before coming in.

And when I do, the phone chain will begin. My friends Liz and Holly will join us for a celebratory milkshake on the way, Lindsay will pick up Roxy so she can play with her friend Rudy for a few days, and Christie will know to take care of my plants starting tomorrow morning.

It will all go according to plan. And shortly thereafter, lil' Grublet will open his eyes for the first time.

If you don't hear from me for a few days, you can assume it wasn't all another big stupid false alarm. Otherwise you can expect a very frustrated blog tomorrow morning.

I truly hope tonight is the night... if not, just so you know I went in with a false alarm the day before my THIRD. I was so embarrassed, b/c surely by the third time around you should know what labor is. I remember crying on my way back home so embarrassed and frustrated and sad...

I hope this isn't a false alarm, but if you do... at least you'll get an extra milkshake out of it!

Can't wait for the phone call with the good news!!!

Do NOT feel bad! I went in for three false alarms with my first. In fact, my water broke all three times, and I was never sure about it! LOL!!

I hope he comes tonight! Keep us posted! :)

I went in three times with my first, and one of those times I was even sure my water had broken. So sure that after being checked by an alarmingly confused and seemingly incompetent resident, I even called my doctor. He told me to come to his office to be checked since I was so concerned. My doctor did an ultrasound to confirm that in fact, my water had not broken. I felt so silly.

All my contractions were regular every time, but they said it was false labor! So don't feel bad...you definitely aren't the only one!

I can't wait to hear how you are this morning!

When I went in to labor with our first baby, Madeline, Robbie was so hesitant to go to the hospital. He kept saying, "Are you sure you're really in labor? I don't want to be those people who go and get sent home because you had a false alarm." He said it like I was some kind of hysterical pansy. That's ok. Later when I got my epidural I had to be really still, so as I held on to him for support, I pinched his nipples so that I could transfer some of my pain to him. I was not nice in transition. I love your stories. I laughed so hard I cried. Robbie had a friend go get him McDonald's and I was so hungry. They carried it into the room and the not-so-helpful nurse told him he had to go out of the room to eat it. I yelled, "Don't you DARE send him out of here!" Not only was I afraid the baby would be born the moment he walked out of the room, but I felt as if I was consuming a few calories by inhaling the grease from the french fries.
