procrastinating with projects

Last night I had the house to myself. My plan was to finish the online traffic school I have to take. But alas, other things distracted me, so instead I:
  • hemmed two pairs of pants
  • made a pillow
Nothing like procrastinating, right?

The pillow is a sister to another I made two years ago while Jim was in Iraq. I was very proud of the first one as it made its home on the corner of our couch, matching everything around it perfectly. I'd always planned to make two, but... [insert some lame excuse].

When Jim came back after 12 months away he stood in the middle of our house and took in every changed detail. Then he saw the pillow and asked were it came from. I said I made it, don't you like it? He just sort of grunted and said something about looking grandma-ish.

Well, grandma now has a sister. And I love them both, even if he doesn't.

(If you look closely, you can see that I botched up the bottom left corner. And can you see all the dog hair that's already velcro-ed itself on? I love our dog, but really... the pillow is only 12 hours old!)

If that is botched then I won't even attempt a pillow again...not that I was really planning on it. I know my limitations. I like Grandma's sista... I think you should name your pillow Aunt Gertrude... not that you really name pillows, but still it could be fun..."Don't sit on Aunt Gertrude" "Put Aunt Gertrude in the corner..."
Hmmm perhaps I better stop... I am amusing only my self I am sure. :-)

I don't know, I'm pretty amused with the aunt gertrude idea...

I was amused by Life at the Circus's comment.

But it doesn't take much with me. :)

I love the pillow.

Doesn't look a bit botched and can't see the dog hair at all.

Another crafty job well done!

The grandma comment made me laugh out loud because that's something scott would say too. :) Now I'm wondering about my fabric choice for the living room curtains....hmmmm....
At least you were productive with something.

Very cute pillows - great job as usual :-) I agree - can't see any blotched or hairy spots! Look out Martha!!

Great pillow! And homemade projects aren't suppose to be perfect. That is why they are homemade. You are too hard on yourself. It looks great!
Glad to hear no more tickets for you!

It's beautiful! If that's grandma-ish, I guess I had better stick to decorating nursing homes...
